1. Learn how to see the light
The quality, the color and the direction of the light is very important, as well as contrast, highlights and shadows. They are all playing a huge role in photography, and you can easier set your exposure. Lighting plays a crucial role in photography, lighting determines not only darkness or brightness but also tone, mood and atmosphere. Therefore it is necessary to control and manipulate light correctly in order to get the best texture, vibrancy of color and luminosity of the subject.
2. Depth and dimension
Try to create a sense of depth because the camera picks up only width and height. Use a foreground element to create the depth you like. Depth is the vertical distance below a surface; the amount that something is deep while dimension is a single aspect of a given thing.
3. Take a walk
Walk around the location and figure out where the best place is for your shooting. There are a lot of different photo angles and a lot of beautiful places in this world. You can find a great photo op even in your back ally. Explore them!
4. Look down, back and up
Look around you and don’t be in a hurry, or else you will miss out a great photo opportunity. It’s all about the moment but also don’t be a hurry. Photography is an art so be an artist in a moment.
5. Tell the whole story
Take different kinds of photos of the same location or thing. Horizontal shots and detail shots are always popular.
6. Frame it
Look for a doorway or a window to frame the person of the subject that you are photographing, something that will frame. It will be a much more interesting picture.
7. Beware of the background
It can ruin pictures if you don’t watch out. You don’t want any awkward positions, like something “sticking out” of the model’s head.
8. Fill the frame
Crop out anything that is not important in your picture. Express clearly what you want to be shown.
9. RAW rules
Shoot in RAW mode because it retains all the information you need. A camera raw image file contains minimally processed data from the image sensor of either a digital camera, a motion picture film scanner, or other image scanner. Raw files are named so because they are not yet processed and therefore are not ready to be printed or edited with a bitmap graphics editor.
10. Envision the end result
You can always fix the photo on Photoshop, and it is in place to be prepared and know what you will do with your photos.
